The reception from developers was astounding, and The MIT Technology Review called it, “ The Most Important New Technology Since the Smart Phone.” Unlike Apple, Leap Motion did not try to control every aspect of the user's experience, instead sending tens of thousands of kits to developers to allow them to create their own apps in their ecosystem. After working on the problem for a couple of years, Leap founders Michael Buckwald and David Holz secured Series A funding in May of last year and announced pre-sale of the $79.95 USB drive-sized device.
